Wow....shows how out of it my life is now.  For one thing, I didn't have the TV plugged in, and this year's Stanley Cup was such a non-entity for me, I didn't even know who was playing, or that it was being played, but thanks for the update.

When I was growing up in Canada, everything stopped during Stanley Cup, and we watched every second of every game.  The entire nation was pre-occupied, like European countries when their national team is playing in the World Cup.    Now it has become Americanized and much more commercial (perhaps that is good for hockey?), but the Canadian spirit of the thing is long gone.  I don't follow it near as much during the season, or the playoffs.   Last time I got into it was the year the Canes won, because I had followed them closely during their inaugural year in Greensboro.

And as for the Montreal Canadiens (funny I had an early morning dream about 'em just today...the Toe Blake era..), I think they need a firm kick in the ass.   It's gonna be a long time coming before they get to skate around Molson Arena with the cup.   In the 60's they won year after year.  Sadly, the Montreal Forum has turned into a disgusting mini-shopping mall of sorts, with only a small section of the original preserved as a "museum" to it's former glory.
