I have to wonder, though, whether that stops them from being a "duo." Think of it . . . the quiet one who works against the noisy one; the melodic one who works against the . . . noisy one. You know what I mean.When you know there is an audience, doesn't that pressure produce something different from what you'd have had if that audience hadn't been around?Paul might state that they didn't write together during their most prolific period--but does that necessarily mean they weren't each other's most valued "target audience"?When I listen to the stuff released post-Beatles, I think to myself, "man, they really needed each other to tame their own excesses."Perhaps they were a duo, whether working together directly or not.Herring405
