Dear Congressman Hodes,
I'm sure you share my concern with regard to the unprecedented powers taken by the Bush administration. I worry that our essential system of checks and balances is in jeopardy. Someone must demonstrate courage, and character, and rein in the president. Protecting our constitution must take precedence over next year's election concerns. History will judge Congress poorly if it abdicates its responsibility. I am asking you to do whatever you can to initiate impeachment proceedings against President Bush and Vice-President Cheney. I understand the enormity of this task, sir, and recognize that you will initially find yourself at odds with the Democratic leadership, and many in the Republican Party. In time, your colleagues, and the country will rally around this cause. History will most assuredly commend your noble actions. Now is the time to be counted, Mr. Hodes.
Sincerely,
Peter T.
