Talk about a great song, Walk Away Renee, first written and performed by the Left Banke (no, they were from New York, not Paris), in the 60's, was a tune that always blew me away, and still does, everytime I hear it. I could only clearly hear the lyrics to the chorus, the rest was always a blur sounding something like.."When i umm ummu ummm run away..mm mmm mmm etc..."
Well Renee is making a comeback. Just saw Vonda Shepard at Ram's Head in Annapolis, and she did a great version. Marshall Crenshaw does it on his recent live album, so wassup with ol' Renee? Well, folks, here's the non-mumbled lyrics, for your perusal, and feel free to sing along in the shower now, with confidence, every time you hear the song on the Oldies station..

| And when I see the sign that points one way The lot we used to pass by every day Just walk away Renee From deep inside the tears that I'm forced to cry Just walk away Renee Just walk away Renee Your name and mine in shadows upon a wall Just walk away Renee |
