I expect many of you have seen this picture of Rumsfeld shaking hands with Saddam in "happier" times. Nothing happens in a vacuum and much of what's happening right now is the direct result of our own past actions and manipulations in the Middle East. Who sold him the nerve and chemical agents he used against the Iranians? Was he a kinder, gentler leader in those days. Hmmmmm.....

Characterizing this war as "good vs. evil" (with the implication that we're "good")  is willful ignorance and a denial of our responsibility. If we expediently install another tin-pot dictator wannabe after Baghdad falls the cycle of misery will simply continue on and on.
