The following is a letter I received from my Rep and my response to it.

Is your Rep just as bad?

Knowing of your interest in the Bush Administration and your contact with our office, I want to keep you up to date on the critical important matters facing our nation.

When President Bush took us into war more than four years ago, he promised the American people a quick and easy victory. While the President has repeatedly asked us to stay the course, every American fatality, every wounded service member, and every American tax dollar spent reminds us of his utter failure to deliver on that promise.

Since the Administration's escalation plan six months ago, more than 28,000 troops have been sent to Iraq, 600 more U.S. soldiers have died, and more than 3,000 troops have been wounded. The Iraqi government has failed to reach any of the benchmarks set forth by the President in January, and violence is at an all-time high. The Iraq Study Group's conclusion that the "situation in Iraq is grave and deteriorating" is clearly corroborated by the worsening situation on the ground.

As a result, more American troops have been placed in the middle of a civil war, our overextended military has been further strained, and resources that are necessary to keep Americans safe at home have been jeopardized because of the huge financial commitment to the war and the rebuilding effort. Our soldiers, who have served bravely and heroically, are being forced to serve multiple or extended tours of duty to maintain a strategy that has clearly failed.

A new direction in Iraq is long overdue. On July 13, 2007, I voted for H.R. 2956, the Responsible Redeployment from Iraq Act. This bill passed in the House of Representatives and is awaiting consideration in Senate. The legislation requires that redeployment begin within 120 days of enactment and culminate by April 1, 2008. Should the Senate vote in favor of H.R. 2956, responsibility will fall to the President to sign the bill into law.

In the past, the President has demonstrated blatant disregard for the will of the American people by vetoing legislation that would finally take us in a new direction in Iraq. H.R. 2956, is consistent with the advice of military and foreign policy experts, provides the hope for steering our nation toward a more sensible and safer future. A veto in this case would be nothing more than another failure in a long list of failures when it comes to President Bush's Iraq policy.

I understand there have been calls for Congress to impeach the President and members of the Administration over the terrible mismanagement of the war. The impeachment process is divisive and costly, and would further distract from the other important issues confronting the American people, including ending the war. Rather than allow the impeachment issue to deplete more of our time and resources, I believe we should concentrate our efforts instead on ending the war, providing healthcare to our veterans, and restoring domestic priorities for all Americans.

Again, thank you for contacting my office, and please do not hesitate to do so again regarding this or any other matter. I will keep your concerns in mind and continue to keep you updated on this and other pressing issues of the 110th Congress. I also invite you to visit my Web site and signup to receive my newsletter at http://www.house.gov/schultz for additional information and legislative issue updates.

Sincerely,

Congress Woman Shultz:
It is obvious by your letter that you are missing the most important matter facing this country today. Respect. Respect from other countries, respect from the the citizens of This Country, respect of the Constitution and the Office of Congress. It is your DUTY, as a member, to bring to justice all criminals perpetrating crimes against this country.
What kind of policy do you think you're going to implement when there is no possibility of it getting past a Presidential Veto. Wake up and smell the coffee. I'm beginning to get the feeling that even with your passionate speeches made on the house floor, you're actually a large part of the problem. No Balls. (figuratively in your case).
I have no other option but to cast my vote for someone else the next time you're up for election. That's not to far away. After all this is a democracy.
Please, Please, stop beating around the bush, (no pun intended). This is your opportunity to do something REAL. Something IMPORTANT. Something LIFE CHANGING. For the people of this country. For the people of the world.
     TAKE THE GLOVES OFF.
