I had heard something about Cameron Crowe who travelled with the band saying that Ronnie was wanting to make some changes in the band and also quit singing. Ronnie was the heart and soul of the band and it shows in what has been produced as Skynyrd since the crash. Funny but I had been listening to Street Survivors for 30 years and did not realize that Steve Gaines sang the last song A'int no Good Live. Actually I think his vocals match and surpassed Ronnie himself as he sang dual lead vocal on You got that right. If anyone was to replace him it would have been Gaines. I saw the band in 1987 in Dallas with the first lineup including Johnnie on vocals and he was pretty good but he was not the voice or the showman that Ronnie was. Love that hat he wore on stage and found out recently it was sold by a company just south of Austin.
Obviously the price would only appeal to RVZ nuts, i wouldn't mind one myself though.
I love his choice of hats and this is the most famous of the hats he wore. You too could own one of the same style, they are for sale by "Texas Hatters"
