Hey folks, it's been a awhile since I've posted my favorite Discs I'm listening to at the moment. Some of the artist have been dicussed recently on this board. Some you may or may not of heard before. So here goes my list for April:

In My Room-April 2003

1.) Turin Brakes,"Either Song" Mainly acoustic British duo returns with another collection of tunes. This time with a fuller sound and production. If you love Coldplay, check them out! They are also opening for David Gray this summer in the states.

2.) Grand Drive,"Grand Drive"  Their U.S. debut is a collection of tracks compiled off their first three U.K. albums. A great starting point for the first timer. If you like Mercury Rev, Wilco, The Jayhawks, you must check this out. One of my favorite bands of the last few years. On tour in the states at the end of the month.

3.) Mull Historical Society, "US"  Scottish singer/songwriter Colin MacIntyre, returns with a sophmore disc that far surpases the debut. The kind of music Brian Wilson and Van Dyke Parks should be making today.

4.) The Be Good Tanyas, "Chinatown" Not as strong as their debut, but how could you not love theese three former buskers/gypsies wonderfull front porch folk tunes. Odd, but beautiful vocals wraped in traditional stylings.

5.) Kate Rusby,"10"   English songbirds collection of re-recorded and live versions of tracks from her first three Discs. Kate is the greatest folk singer of her genre and generation. When all is written, she will most likely be one of the greatest English Folk singers of all time. Quite special, indeed!!!

6.) Caetano Veloso & Jorge Mautner,"Eu Nao Peco Desculpa"  Brazilian god, Veloso can do no wrong in my book. Go see the Spanish film,"Talk To Her" to see why so many people around the globe are singing his praises. I agree with the NY Times; He is the greatest singer/songwriter on the planet!

7.) Paul Weller,"Illumination"  Finally!, the great mod-godfather see's a stateside release. Bought the import last year. Purchased the U.S. release as well. His strongest album, since "Stanley Road".

8.) Motion Picture Soundtrack of "Frida"  I know it doesn't matter, but this disc won the Oscar for best score and should have won best song as well. "Burn It Blue" is simply breathtaking, but then again you allready know how I feel about Mr.Veloso.

9.) Damien Rice, "O"  I agree with David, everyone should go online and buy this disc today!

10.) The Ben Taylor Band, "Famous Among The Barnes"  James and Carly's son ain't that bad. Scary how is voice is a carbon copy of dad's.

There are new releases by Lucinda Williams, Roseanne Cash, Throwing Muses and Kristen Hersh that I need to buy very soon. As well, there is a new Maria McKee and Daniel Lanois comming out this month, plus a collection of early Townes Van Zandt recordings and reissues of Uncle Tupelo's catalog.

I saw a film on Sundance last night called "The Slaughter Rule". was very impressed with the film and the soundtrack. Jay Farrar does the score and is compiled with numerous great tracks by many alt-country greats.

The new issue of "Paste" is out now. It's the best fecking music magazine on the planet!and the free CD is awesome, yet again. I'm buying a two year subscription today!!! Totaly upstaging "CMJ" and "No Depression", at the moment, a fine puplication!

Cheers, to you all. Any other good tunes out there I haven't listed?
