>But don't think there isn't likely a plan to weaponize at some point. Likely, the "plans" have already been bought from Mr. Khan in Pakistan 5-6 years ago. At this point, they can sit on them and continue to enrich uranium until some future day.
Frankly, I'd be far more worried about some crazed follower of Al-Qaeda getting a bomb than the mullahs in Iran. Those who expect Iran to "wipe Israel off the map" are deluded I think. Among other things, there would be too much collateral damage to Lebanese and Palestinians. <
Israel already has nukes, no ?
Isn't the point of having nukes, when your neighbor does, to make sure nobody actually uses them ? Isn't that the way it worked during the cold war, Russia had nukes so we had nukes, etc., etc. If your opponent can fight back on equal footing you make those kind of calls carefully. ( well, most governments anyway )
This administration seriously blew opportunities to totally change course with Iran after 9/11, the reformists were ready to sit down and develope a new relationship but our arrogant, "we aren't talking to any farkin' body" "leaders" ( and I use that term reluctantly ) let the opportunity pass.
