"I would vote for Ron Paul because he's the only one that seems to understand this country's fiscal problems, and damn do we have some doozies, but he'll never get elected because most people think he's a kook (I remember Ross Perot)"You're probably right. Unlike Ross Perot, though, I wonder if this candidate's "kook" stature is more due to media manipulation than to actual kookiness. For instance, did Tucker Carlson really engineer the prostitute promo for Ron Paul in Nevada? (I heard a report that Carlson called up the owner of a brothel & invited him to come to a Ron Paul rally so that the brothel guy & two of his . . . employees . . . could come out and be interviewed as Ron Paul Supporters. This kind of thing does have a marginalizing effect.) Can that kind of public image-making be combatted, when (to tell the truth) the guy IS a bit of a "nerd"?Also: I just wanted to note that Ron Paul's fundraising has *reached nearly $10.8 Million now, and there is at least one more major fundraising day coming (December 16th) where I'll be curious to see if he garners still more support.*That is to say, if this source is to be believed:http://www.ronpaul2008.comI have no doubt that Ron Paul cannot win the election. My fondest hope for his candidacy is that he would be able to be on-stage, hopefully with candidates from both parties, in a forum where he can ask questions like, "why don't you support governing based upon our constitution?" Or, perhaps, "have you read our constitution?"Herring405PS: Does anybody know--once a campaign goes hopelessly to the dogs, what happens to the money that was raised? Can a candidate donate the remaining funds in his coffer to somebody else?Just curious.
