The Mary Frank posting was to point out the difference bewteen
being an artist and being, I don't know, a politician, a critic or even (thse days) an activist. Mostly because the masses want entertainment not
challenge or risk. And idols,not heroes. They talk of change but want someone
else to do it for them.It had absolutely nothing to do with Ralph with whom I rarely if ever agree
on anything but fiction and film and as a reminder of where I came from.Melancholy, a bit, not screeching; reflecting tho' hardly resigned as
this year slips away.
