Now there's an idea I can get behind!Another way of looking at the art/criticism dichotomy is to say that criticism keeps the art alive, since a critic today will say something different about a work than one yesterday said, which means that the story is always changing. It's the modern equivalent to the way the epic poems were always changing . . . until they were written down. But if or when criticism aims to finally nail down all the answers about a work, that's when I tire of the critics. If it were possible to know & speak everything about any work of art, I believe that would constitute a dead work of art.So yeah . . . I think I'm with you~!
