So, I did see it last weekend. It's a very good film with a pretty stunning performance from Daniel Day-Lewis. It's actually a small film that is a character study of one man. Daniel Day-Lewis carries the whole thing because I think he is in pretty much every shot in the film and his character really is the story, his face, his words, his actions...it's all about that single character really. Sort of dream part for an actor, I'd say. It's beautifully shot and PTA once again does a great job. The only part of the film I would call a disappointment was Jonny Greenwood's score...which was ok but nothing fantastic and it did not really do much except sort of try to highlight the madness of the Daniel Plainview character...I'd kind of compare it to Jon Brion's work in Punch Drunk Love only less effective and, to me anyway, not always the best choice. Hey, but the flipside to that is the guy's day job is Radiohead and there he really shines.
