Reg, the way Dylan is playing it is in C major. So the progression for the chorus is:F xxxxxx C xxxxxx G xxxxxx CxxxC7xxx Fxxxxxx Cxxxxxx Cxxxxxx Gxxxxxxx C......The x's are straight strums in 4/4 time to get the feel. The verses use the same chords. When the guitar is capoed on 5th fret, Joan Baez is using a G shape, and as you know, G capoed up
5 is just C. However, it gives a totally different timbre to the sound of the C chord so when blended
it can have a nice effect. A lot of folk/country bands do that. I remember John Jorgenson did that a
bunch when he played with Desert Rose Band. If I can dig up the Byrds version I'll send it to ya'. You really need the whole album, so I'll send it.
On their version, Clarence White does a solo with the string bender that'll just make you weep, it's so
pretty. On their version though, in typical Byrds style they don't include all the verses (same way
they did with Tambourine Man etc..)
