I'm all for the Dixie Chicks and their freedom of expression. And take great relief that the alternative concert in opposition to their concert only garnered about 2,000 people (compared to over 15,000 for the D. Chicks). As far as people making negative comments on foreign soil, well, sorry to say, but the Republicans started the end to this tradition during the Clinton years. Whenever he would go overseas they would crank up the attacks, so don't act like it is something new and started by three muscians. And again, where is the right's outrage over Newt Gingrich's comments? You know, the same ones when made eariler by a democrat, the democrat was called "un-American" and "anti-patriotic" but after the man who should be neutered made his, absolutely nothing from the right was heard. Here's sometihng to ponder....the right is so fond of targeting their foes as people being "un-American" and "anti-patriotic" so often, that the question has to be asked : If the left took up this same tactic, what is some similar claim those on the left could use? The most obvious one I can think of is claiming all of those on the right are racist, KKK members. Now, can you imagine if every time some lefty got on the tv and blared, "Bush, Cheney et al are all racists." Those on the right would go apoplectic, and rightly so. But here we have one group that is consistently getting a bye from the criticism they deserve, while those of us critical of the US government are tarred and feathered. But the most detestable thing is that the greatest majority of those being called "anit-patriotic" and "un-American" are the ones who are clearly exercising their US Constitutional rights, while those who are tryng to prevent this are not.And on it goes....
