First off, apology accepted & no harm done, handshakes and smiles all around.
"However, I do stick to my guns about the responsibility thing, ie yours not mine in reading posts. I don't post things I think will be blatantly offensive, rascist or disgusting like some of the other folks here, but there is enough/too much cussing on this board anyways that I didn't think the video clip was too un- apropos for this crowd. It is obviously not for little children (my opinion), but again, this isn't really a "kids" site, I don't think. Any parents letting their kids view the posts, take full responsibility for their actions, not the poster. As far as the graphic one offered earlier...it has no place here at all, so warning or no warning, I think disgusting things like that probably belong "elsewhere", like in a vomitorium."
You're probably right about that last bit, but the one thing I'll continue to disagree with you on is the relative merit of posting links that may offend (or reach innocent ears) with no warning whatsoever of what we're gonna get when we click on that link. I just think it's a courtesy, a kindness that we do to others & hope it's done in return.
Granted, I don't click on all the links (who has the time?) so maybe there have been others of this nature posted here before & I've just missed them . . . but . . . in my perhaps limited experience of this board, people generally do say "not for the kids" or "careful" or "turn the speakers down" or something . . .. Or when I use bumper clips from Deadwood on a mix CD that I'll send to a friend, I make sure to write "not for the ears of children" on the cover. I also yell "Fore" before swinging at the golf ball if there is someone up ahead . . . y'know, just common courtesy.
It would be easy, though, for me to say "heck with that! they knew they were on a golf course!" and also "the CD recipient knows I'm an adult, so why warn him that there's adult content here?"
Not that I'm intending to pile on here or anything . . . just talking about this kind of thing makes it seem a lot bigger of an issue than it probably is.
