You're right this time, Dale. However, Bush would have been better off leaving this unsaid. It speaks to just how tone-deaf he is that he mentioned it at all. He set himself up to be mocked - deservedly.

As for Gore: there was a similar story out this week about Lexus sending a new hybrid vehicle to Paul McCartney as part of a promotion. The only problem was that they wanted him to get it so quickly that they had the thing air freighted over to the UK in its own plane. The resulting emissions were apparently equivalent to driving around the world several times, thus negating any greenhouse gas benefits of the hybrid many times over.
