I saw the Frey / Walsh tour twice just before the big reunion, once was kind of an accident. This was before Joe signed his "sobriety" contract and the difference was night and day. Joe was pretty inebriated, to the point of sloppiness, and he couldn't remember the words to his own songs.

Then I saw the reunion tour twice ( with Don Felder ) and this is when I realized what a major part of the festivities that Felder brought to the table. Joe was like a new person and has fortunately, as far as I know, decided to hang on to his new found clarity.

The Eagles have always been known for their studio perfect stage performance, which can be a good thing and a bad thing, depending on your viewpoint. I saw the second of a two night stand in Nashville and the first night was so studio perfect that prompted one reviewer to accuse the guys of lip syncing. The second night, when I was there, the guy who wrote the review was brought out and pearched on a stool close to Henley while Don changed up some lyrics for his benefit.  :-)
