Krav,For some time I felt just like the sentiments you described (about Mellencamp whoring himself out to a corporation) and while I am really disappointed in when that happens, after reading many interviews with Mellencamp about this topic, I have grown to give him a pass for one reason: he points out that today's music business has changed in such drastic ways, it is so hard for some musicians to get their music out there anymore. Another part of it is in one way he has done so without fundamentally changing his views and music. Though I don't like it, I can understand why some like Mellencamp felt that was the best way to get their music out there, unlike those that really don't need to do so or need to line their pockets with more cash they can never spend.
