GM,

In the above Obamacrimes post, you state your commitment to the truth. I see an enormous contradiction when it comes to the veracity of the scriptures. It has been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that the New Testament was altered in innumerable ways. Do you deny this? Is Ehrman wrong in his scholarship? Please answer and explain your position. I truly want to know your reasoning.

How can you know that the dictates of its passages are genuine commands from God (and they weren't simply inserted by scribes decades or centuries later)? I know, faith, faith! I'm sorry, but that isn't good enough. We know that the story of Jesus and prostitute was inserted long after the original gospel was written. Do you disagree with mainstream scholars on this? If so, why? If not, how can you say that other altered/inserted sections weren't the result of later scribes (with various agendas)?

I have faith that God endowed me with reason, and I, too, am wholly committed to the pursuit of the truth, wherever it leads me. I will alter my views as new evidence presents itself. Would any new revelations (pun unintended) related to Biblical origins sway you in any of your beliefs?
