This letter has been widely circulated on the Internet for years. Dr. Laura is certainly a loathsome person, but I think the main point is to illustrate that the Old Testament is chock full of the most ridiculous, barbaric, toxic stories ever conceived by humanity. At some point in the future, however distant, people will look back in amazement at how post-Enlightenment societies could embrace such texts as anything other than rubbish. The pain and suffering caused by that book is incalculable. Shame on the bastards who penned it, and those who espouse its dictates. Actually, "shame" doesn't adequately serve as a punishment.
