I can't really argue with any of his statements. The creationism/Darwinism litmus test is interesting. So many people are taught creationism from birth that it makes it really difficult for them to look beyond that later. I'm not sure that always means they can't adequately assess other issues (although I'd prefer someone who looks at things more scientifically). Damon's criticism that Palin might not be experienced enough to face down Putin strategically is right on . . . but it also applies to Obama. That said, so many of these decisions are made via input from other policy professionals. The Republicans so clearly dropped the ball in this regard during Bush's presidency that it's difficult to imagine rewarding the Republicans with four more years. Maybe McCain mitigates the experience fear a little bit, but there's also something to be said for throwing the bums out. Let them come back chastened and reformed to fight another day . . . hopefully as real adult Republicans rather than as Southern Baptist "know-nothing" variety.
