Well Block, we disagree again, because there's a big difference between discontinuing the Bush Tax cuts (which were only for the extremely wealthy), and what Obama/Biden are proposing, which in essence amounts to penalizing earners of 250K a year (married), 200K a year (single). I do not consider a single wage earner or small business owner making 200K in today's expensive world as "wealthy" (hell, the little Pizza shop around the corner from me does that much), nor would I consider a married couple making 250K wealthy either, especially if they have children.
Your thinking is tantamount to throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Taking away a tax break (which I agree with) is not the same as disproportionately increasing taxes. Everyone should pay their fair share of tax. Give me a logical argument as to why those who earn more should pay a higher percentage. What incentive does a small business owner have with what Obama/Biden are proposing? It flies in the face of the "American Dream" and makes it even more elusive. They are manipulating public sentiment with their theme of "going after the rich guy". The result: 1. It will line their coffers to fund programs. 2. It will get votes from the massive populace who won't get nicked by the tax bludgeoning which is forthcoming. And..it will probably work to get Obama into office. It appeals to the masses. A couple of years down the pike, if Biden gets his way, the bracket will come down to 150K (he has breathed this already), then we'll see how everybody feels about it.
