It took me about 25 minutes... I'd expected a much longer wait so I went over and phonebanked for
Obama in Santa Monica. Had a blast and a half. I know this board is populated by professional and
semi-professional cynics, doubters, and proud pessimists, myself included, but I'm not ashamed to
say that this election and its result has me indulging in a rare moment of hope for this country. I love
what I'm seeing in people's faces today. And I loved Obama's gracious, humble and pragmatic speech.
His last message, that this is not the end of a struggle but the chance to begin to deal with these
civilisation-threatening times of climactic, economic, and spiritual peril made me feel that at long last
we may have a true leader in the White House. Maybe for the first time since Franklin Roosevelt. Good
luck to us all!
