I harbor no ill towards the Hold Steady. They are a impassioned bar band, with smart lyrics and a praise worthy live set. It’s just that they’re just a little to close sounding to Bruce and co. for me to fully embrace, praise or support since the same was given to Bruce in his early years. It's all a bit to full circle and repeat play for me. But then again, I'm not listening to anything ground breaking of late.
