Went to see the Scabs last night. I think this was Bob Schneiders original band before he went to Lonelyland. Much different than the stuff on Archive.org. Great band (9 piece with 3 awesome horns). He did play Bullets and an awsome version of RIO (Duran Duran) but he was definitely playing to a young crowd. He was bringing up girls left and right and doing all kinds of lewd things. I was hoping tops would be flying off but no such luck :). He does a lot of Rap and Salsa songs with this band and had mentioned playing with them for 7 or 8 years. I will make it a point to see him over at Antones when he plays with Lonelyland. On a downer note the club(Steamboat) will close for good this Sunday but he definitely packed them last night (hanging from the rafters). The upcoming DVD that Dan will release having Davids live sets were all shot at the Steamboat although there were no backdrops to indicate this (You would think they would put a Steamboat or something behind the band)
I like that one as well as the 3/10/03, almost sounds like two different bands. They are both great. Did you try one ?
Yes but I did not like it as much. My favorite so far has been the one you left the review for. I also like the Acoustical set at Fine Line in Minn 11/08/2002. The Bottom line show in New York was also good
Most of the bands up there are a bit on the Jammy side for my taste. You can't go wrong with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. I think there is some Les Claypool up there too, he's a hell of a bass player but I don't care much for his vocals.
Steep Canyon Rangers are good if you like the traditional side of Bluegrass....
What about Big Head Todd????
