In the early days I think I must've been the biggest West Coast fan Springsteen had, but starting with 'The River' it's all seemed like one giant rehash. Maybe it was the music scene that came along in the late seventies and early eighties but suddenly Bruce seemed to cease to evolve, musically or thematically. There was just a lot more stuff going on that seemed more interesting.

I've tried to like his stuff but 'Magic' was mostly dreck, and -what was it?- 'Devils and Dust' I gave away after hearing half of it.

I think Bruce is a great guy, and his heart and his politics are great, but as an artist I don't really see that he's grown much in the past twenty years.
