Lovely ol’ grandma told me a story … about her youth

When her mainland neighbors  came  & claimed the family farm

Then the wiles from the West came in afterwards and claimed some more

& she looked so deep into me that it stung a bit, n smiled n said, “You are a good boy.”

I spent an evening with my lady, back in September,  listenin' to Bruddah Iz and

Sippin’ Chambourcin from matching wine glasses, feelin’ like Hawaii must

Have been something way back before  malihini  came n claimed the

Family farms n ceremony ground beside turnin’tides n kukui nut.

& yet what have we learned from all this expansion, brah?
