I have long felt that to be true, and I remember having a conversation on the subject with my cousin (a house music fan) during a long drive from Ann Arbor to Boston in 1994. Since then, it's only gotten worse. I will say that down here in Texas, there seems to still be a reasonably healthy live music scene, though. Maybe folks are so conservative that they don't want to change, and in this case that's not so bad?
