Public Enemies

Rendering unpleasant a potentially excellent movie was manly-Mann’s regrettable decision to use the cinematic equivalent of a puker in the buffet line;  Uncle Jiggley’s handheld unsteady cam (at point blank range of otherwise perfectly good scenes).  I had to resort to bobbing and weaving my head to thwart the seasick feeling. Honestly, I can’t see how it served even one scene ~~ nothing but a distraction. Other than the unfortunate vomit comet, Public Enemies is… …ah…nevermind, the wobble cam is a bummer and that’s that.    Mann!, this could have been a doozy……Why!, Spongebob, WHY!?    .....Disappointed.

One notable feature among others was the resourceful use of a cinema screening of Manhattan Melodrama (Clark Gable ~ Myrna Loy ~ William Powell ~ 1934) …as a sort of foreshadowing, maybe, …or, well, just centering a scene around it & Depp’s Dillinger was cool ~ a high point in the film for Maya & me. Eat some Dramamine or ginger root and go see it.
