ODE to TIFFANY

They took me from my Mama,
When I was too little to walk,
And I ended up in a house,
Where the people hardly talked to me.

They  had a little girl,
That used to tease me,
And they never did nuthin’ to her,
But when I scratched her back,
They stuck me outside in the rain.

But that was OK,
‘Cause I had a little wooden house,
All my own,
And I could walk a little,
Until I felt the pull on my neck.

I could curl up in a blanket,
And dream of farm fields,
And endless drifting clouds,
And sunshine,
But when the wind picked up,
I just shivered again.

When I had to go,
Sometimes the big, fat son came to get me,
And let me walk.
I was so dumb, I just picked the same place I pissed before.
He was a lazy ass, so we didn’t go far.

Well after a year with these guys,
They tell me they’re movin’,
And in the new place they got no room,
For you-know-who.

Oh yeah, they had a bunch a’ ugly faces over,
To gawk at me,
Pat me on the back, and say nice things,
But I knew what they was thinkin’.

Now a barred door closes behind me,
And we are all yelping together,
When they turn out the lights.
Can’t complain too much though,
‘Cause the caretaker at least sings sometimes, and talks to us,
When he give us a snack.
And he don’t hit us, like that fat fucker did, when I lived in the home.

But I saw they took Emma from her cell this morning,
And her bed is empty this evening,
There’s no food on her plate,
So I know it’s not gonna be long for me ‘neither.
I don’t understand what I did that was so wrong,
Why Baby Jesus did not love me like he said he would,
Why he let me suffer, Why he made me what I am…A DOG.

I should have walked this dog to see if she would like me.  With my lifestyle, I am so hardly at home, I felt I couldn't take a pet now, especially a dog.  Her owner basically neglected her, then (and this may be most merciful), took her to the SPCA this eve, but about a week ago, asked me if I wanted a dog.   I feel like shit.  Those little eyes are really haunting me.

Hug your pets tonight guys...Yeah, Lizards too...
