So I’m watching the NBC (interview) sensationalization of the (mostly 5th place) bronze winner of the Short Track Speed Skating race last night (nice kid, wish him well n all), …& he’s telling a story about his severed leg, and his orthopedic surgeon was none other than Eric Heiden. Really, it blows me away just how magnificently some people can achieve. Go and be an Olympic Medal Winner, …or go and be a Doctor, stand alone achievements, enough to get one through the years with a measure of self-respect. But, go and do both!? Wow, that’s leading an admirable life…to a farfetched degree.
& here I’ve been so pleased with the fact that I can reach to scratch that spot on my back that most people can’t get. That, & my 2nd Place ping-pong certificate. …I may have to think about setting the bar a little higher.
