...as things are structured right now "Daddy's favorite children" have sort of rigged the game so that there is nowhere to turn except back to daddy. The thing is they did not trick us into this position, we went willingly and happily along. In fact, you could almost say that the last Bush administration were some of the most honest politicians we have ever seen because they took no shame in and did not hide in any way that they were proud to sit in daddy's lap. They had no qualms about going out in public yelling "We love you, daddy!" any chance they got. They even shamed and ridiculed the rest of us when we did not display our love for daddy as openly as they did. They spoke about us as if we were fools.
I'm not saying that there is no hope or that attempting to vote the bastards out is not a worthy action, in fact I think it is our duty as adults to pay attention to these people so that we are informed and educated voters when the time comes to enter the booth. Hey, and I think that in coming elections being an incumbent could be a very difficult thing. Scott Brown was a tip off that "change" can in fact come anywhere at any time.
While a great man might keep the heart of a child, he can not afford to keep the eyes of a child. It benefits those who wish to keep us children that we see issues from the emotional standpoint because that will cause us to react quickly based on how we feel. Meaning we won't think things out and truly determine the best course to take. So, while going after incumbents seems an obvious choice I still think we need to weigh the quality of the candidates running against the incumbents because they may not be an upgrade. Let's face it, politics does not seem to be drawing our "best and brightest" at this stage of the game.
This oil rig failure is no surprise and while it is ugly and was caused by pure stupidity like the failure of the levees in New Orleans there were people who saw it coming and could have done something about it. I don't say that because I want to serve up somebody's head on a platter but because it is a plain and simple fact. I say it because we asked for this to happen and so in a way we are all guilty because we are all daddy's children. We all don't express our love for daddy as openly as Dick Cheney does but daddy does make the way we live possible (and for some impossible).
It seems daddy's children need something to be deemed a "tragedy" or a "crisis" to react. Let's be honest though, even those of us that don't work for Big Oil and only watch the news knew that it was only a matter of time before there was yet another big ugly oil spill. Safety and the oil industry are words it is just plain silly to include in the same sentence.
Yes, I'm outraged at this latest debacle and saddened by the consequences although I would not call them unintended because we certainly intended for daddy to deliver the goods and that's all he was trying to do. Oh, and daddy says this incident should have no effect on the cost of oil or gasoline because 5000 gallons an hour is a pittance and he has so much oil in reserve that he's been hanging on to until the price goes back up over 100 bucks a barrel that we won't even miss it. He is sorry about all the turtles, birds and fish though but he wanted to remind us about what they say about making an omelet.
