Painter and illustrator Frank Frazetta has passed away. http://voices.washingtonpost.com/comic-riffs/2010/05/rip_frank_frazetta_master_of_f.html
Anyone who has followed graphic illustrations for the last sixty or so years certainly know who this man was. A documentary about him called Painting with Fire was made some years ago and is worth a look. Some may discount him as just a comic book artist or be bothered by his portrayal of women in many of his pieces, however he mixed colors in his paintings like none other. And many music lovers are sure to recognize album covers from bands such as Molly Hatchet that used his art as album covers. The mood he created in his illustrations is amazing. Over the later years of his life he tried to buy back paintings he had sold early in his career. Rumor has it that he shunned pro-baseball to follow his art. Imagine that from a guy in New York back in the 50's or so.
