The most disturbing thing about Eden Lake is how well done this disturbing movie is done. The sad thing is how film making has gone from gratuitous gore and torture to make an impact, instead of relying upon compelling story telling. Eden Lake has both, but I think it could have been much more effective if the gore/torture had been more subliminal. Without giving anything way, the very ending makes my point - it is utterly horrific in its simplicity; especially contrasted to the extreme gore throughout the picture.
