During the 80s, Paul Kelly's backing band, The Messengers (called The Coloured Girls in the
Southern Hemisphere) rocked with authority much like The E Street Band and Graham
Parker's The Rumour. They kicked major league ass until PK decided to work with other
musicians. Anyway, this tune, The Execution, will be new to probably everyone except
Kathryn, Big Al, and a few recipients of a PK compilation that I made. I love the tension and
release, I love PK speaking a bit of French (it is the time of the assassin), I love the tightness
of the band, I love the line, "the monstrous has become mundane", but most of all, I love
Paul's amazing guitarist, Steve Connolly. Turn up those speakers and hear Steve transport
you around the 3 minute mark. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wkR3ew2ZPoPeter T.
