"I think Carville is a bit of a village idiot. Romney has been pretty successful to very successful at just about everything he's ever done. That track record should count for something."

I agree about Carville. He can be pretty entertaining, though (and my remark above should be read using his particular accent, while simultaneously wearing the glasses low on the nose and showing the teeth in just the way he does, as I was trying to channel him there).

Romney being successful . . . well, in a certain light, yes. But he certainly hasn't successfully gotten his party behind him in any meaningful way, even after relentless pushing by the media, referring to him as "frontrunner" at all times for the past six (possibly seven) years; even after an incredible amount of campaign spending from his seemingly endless coffers, and the backing of all those "people" that the supreme court recently recognized.

The guy comes across as a stuffed shirt, and they take the stuffing out once in a while and re-stuff it with something else.

I mean, a dead heat with Rick Santorum? (Rhymes with "scant quorum"). For all Romney's efforts and the efforts of his backers, and whether it has to do with religious bias or not (and there's a whole other conversation worth having), Romney is the pill that just won't stay down. Maybe they need to find a way to serve him via intravenous drip bag.
