Icon The pain of a splinter....

No, it's not the name of a new rock band, but it is something that has made me think a bit differently when it comes to our environment and nature.

Sure, it might sound silly, whimsical or just petty, but after getting a tiny, tiny metal splinter in my thumb this past weekend it made me realize more about the human footprint on the earth and nature and this tiny thing reverberates and influences.

On top of this, human kind is so shallow when it comes to those things that don't touch us or things we don't encounter every day. Years ago I read a piece about pollution in the oceans and how chemicals and pollutants were bothering whales and sharks and dolphins and the writer asked what it must like for these creatures to try and swim away from these irritants when impossible.

Then I think of all the people here over the years with much more formidable obstacles in life than I have and how they have persevered and carried on and on and continued to thrive.

All this from a splinter....how it has lead my thinking and thoughts beyond that of just a tiny piece of metal...

Hope all are well....
