With respect to healthcare, it seems to me that the pursuit of happiness the Constitution guarantees cannot be made in ill health, thus access to care both physically and financially should be guaranteed, notwithstanding one's choosing to acquire unhealthy habits.A similar but weaker argument could be made for education, in that goals of happiness change with education. True, one can argue that education is a goal of happiness, thus is an object of that pursuit guaranteed, but, it seems to me, the definition of the "pursuit of happiness" somehow requires choices, and the results of those choices are happiest if they are educated choices.
