Icon Meanderings about guns....

I have not fully read this article, but plan to.

One thing I have noticed about guns in America deals with the American psyche when it comes to guns.

For example, there is this very irrational fear when it comes to the tracking of firearms and this impacts upon trying to determine sensible gun laws to battle gun violence.

To illustrate, even though there are more update gun laws that require the paper tracking of firearms, from personal work experience, I know that many, many firearms are not able to be traced back to all of their selling points because of laws, lack of data and this irrational fear of Americans that believe if the government can track their firearms, then they know who to go to when it comes time for the Government to confiscate them.

Oddly, this type of irrational belief, I think, comes from irrational American fear and our own corruption when it comes to the intent of the US Constitution and those who politically pervert the intent of the US Constitution. What I mean here is, if we actually had justices that did keep in mind the intent of the US Constitution instead of lean to a set of political philosophies and base decisions upon the political rather than the constitutional, then maybe these fears would have been reduced in the past.

Also, when it comes to current American generational trends, our own government has promoted these fears by allowing things such as the eras of the Red Menace, nuclear holocaust, the fear of Muslims, et cetera, to permeate in the American mind, that again leads to more American irrational fear. (What I'm getting at is here in American we breed our own irrational fear which leads to the clinging of guns in an irrational manner).

See, we can't discuss gun laws seriously because IRRATIONAL emotions and beliefs always enter the picture (when I say irrational emotions/beliefs I am not talking about those of actual victims or the like - I am referring to the Tea Party types that see evil behind every tree in America and actually have no reason to fear much at all, but cling to their guns like crazy).

One last point to ponder - I ran across research that deciphered where guns come from a few years ago. It listed how many came from gun shows, straw purchases, thefts/burglaries and the like. But again, it pointed out how hard it is to track them and this makes me wonder what the real powers are behind the battle of tracking firearms. Is it possible out of the fear of litigation? That's what I'm leaning toward believing - that the dealers of firearms don't want them tracked because they fear being sued due to American litigation.

I don't know....but it gets back to my earlier posting - what are Americans so afraid of and how did we get here in this irrational state of mind?
