Right now I'm listening to How It Ends by DeVotchka and it has made me wonder - what do artists like when it comes to the meaning of a song when the meaning is not obvious? Do they want us to try and wrestle with the artists' meaning and to try and interpret the meaning of a song as how they intended the meaning to be, or do they want those listening to form their own meaning?Does an artist get offended when their piece means one thing and those observing the piece see/hear something else?Just curious....
