The education system is basically broken. The people in charge are mediocre at
best. There is no cohesion and the students are the last thing on their minds.
If the parents are not actively involved, the students are on their own, and
that is not necessarily a good thing. There are incredible teachers and
principals out there. It is not they that are at fault. It is the paper
pushers and the more they talk paperlessness, the more they demand which wears
everyone out. I do not see how all the "data" they are supposedly collecting
has done a damn thing other than for the collectors to say "see all these
pretty numbers?" Florida, once again pretty much at the bottom of it all, is
getting rid of the FCAT, but do not have another "legal" plan to implement. I
am not happy about Obama sticking to the test and charter schools. Until
administrations understand that all students are individuals, we are lost.
