We are at an interesting juncture in the history of our country and I'm sure
historians are taking careful notes on the Republican implosion. Trump has mainly
sped up the collapse as he has based his campaign on driving wedges into the
fractures that were created in the Republican base by years of misinforming their
voters and motivating them through the use of fear and anger.
There is now what I would basically call a crazed and militant 10% to 15% of
"Republican" voters and this is the 10% to 15% that consistently is pushing Trump
to victories in these primaries. You'll note his victories are not by giant
margins. These people are not aligned with any sort of traditional or
conservative "values" but instead they just want some revenge. They don't trust
Republicans or Democrats and they don't trust the media either...and they want to
stick it to all of them.
There is good and bad news with this. The good news is if you prefer to see a
Democrat in the White House that is pretty much a certainty. While that lunatic
10 to 15% of rabid Republican primary voters can propel Trump to victories in
primary voting there are nowhere near enough of them (and their numbers are
dwindling, trend downwards) to push him over the top in a general election for
president. Combine this with the fact that the RNC and core of the Republican
party despise him...and he has no shot of becoming president. The RNC core
Republicans would rather elect Hillary Clinton...that's not a joke...and this is
because she is a Republican in a Democrat's dress.
The bad news is that we actually are at a moment where we could elect an
actual
Democrat in the form of Bernie Sanders but the core of the DNC do not want this
to happen. They also want to elect Hillary Clinton because she is a centrist that
will not interfere with or attempt to repair any of the policies (fiscal,
foreign, environmental, campaign finance, all manner of internal policies) that
have been disastrous for this country and which allow the rich to continue to get
richer while the middle class shrinks and struggles with paying the bills and the
poor are virtually forgotten and worse demonized. Her husband oversaw an insane
deregulation process that led to the "Wall Street Crash" and collapse of the
housing market, and eventual "bailout" of these ridiculously wealthy lunatics,
who she is also in bed with.
Hillary is a horrible candidate with a closet full of skeletons, an enemies
list
that probably dwarfs Nixon's, and that will literally say anything to get elected
no matter how obvious a lie it is...but she would be running against a loon of
epic proportions in somebody like Trump or Cruz so she becomes the old "slightly
lesser of two evils."
The Republicans don't really have an option except to support her for
president
and they know they are going down like the Titanic as a party...well...in terms
of electing presidents. As far as "red states" go they will likely be staying red
for some time and they will probably send some even bigger lunatics to the House
and Senate to "combat" the forces they feel are screwing them...even though they
likely do not know who or what those forces are...because I can tell you it is
not Mexicans coming across our border, Democrats in Washington, the "liberal
media", or Muslim terrorists that have driven this country into the massive hole
it is in...but these are the areas that these people have been fooled into
targeting.
I would say once Hillary is elected the Republicans desperate to impact the
presidency in some way will move to impeach her...she is the one "Democrat"
that likely has enough dirt in her record and is probably as paranoid and
dangerous as Richard Nixon when it comes to her "enemies" that would be at risk
of impeachment. I mean if the Republicans can't win a presidential election they
can do all they can to smear and destroy the sitting president...that's something
right? It's probably more fun than actually doing their jobs too and would excite
that 10 to 15% I mentioned earlier...who are never going to get what they think
they want...like the Great Wall of Trump on our border.
