You're getting at a lack of critical thinking skills. People see information but distrust the slant
and the source (as perhaps they should). But the problem comes with an inability to put in the
effort to parse out what's slant and what is fact. Case in point: a lack of understanding of statistics leads conservatives to push numbers about
whites being more likely to be killed by police than blacks. With proper statistical analysis, the
opposite is true. In fact, an UNARMED black person who resists arrest is about equally as
likely to be shot by police as is an ARMED white person who resists arrest. And the ARMED-
ARMED stat is nearly 3-1. That's outrageous. And yet, you'll hear Rush Limbaugh spewing the opposite as if it were fact. That's his tactic.
