Well said, Peter. People get caught up in the act of showing respect while forgetting the
principle that SHOULD HAVE BEEN the bedrock of that respect. When the principles are
compromised, it is our DUTY to stand up/sit down/whatever in support of what's right. There's probably a reasoned debate that could be had about whether police-citizens conflicts
are better attacked by improving behavior of the police or improving behavior of the people
(both, really). But that's not what I hear or see on this issue. Instead, I see people completely
denying any issue at all with police treatment of minorities, despite overwhelming evidence to
the contrary.
