I'd never seen Tonga's most famous citizens, Vika and Linda Bull, before Big Al. I've heard them for years
and own some early discs. I know their association with PK goes way back. Their presence really
enhanced some of those classic songs and the sisters are each showcased on the new album's cuts. Paul mentioned that they all toured Harvard yesterday, had a few drinks, and then mentioned that one of
the sisters is a very savvy businesswoman who should enroll at Harvard Business School. Not many artists take the artistic challenges that PK does (Shakespearean sonnets, detours into blue
grass, and albums focused on just funeral songs). If you're reading this and don't know Paul Kelly's stuff, at least check out Deeper Water, To Her Door,
Careless, Dumb Things, and How To Make Gravy. There are dozens more. And he also penned the
greatest sports-related song I've ever heard, Bradman, about Sir Donald Bradman, the legendary
cricketer. I know nothing of this sport but damn, I fully understand now the impact that this man had on
the sport and its followers. Lastly, if you want to try something a bit different, check out Other People's Houses, and your
consciousness about class consciousness will be raised. Peter T.
