Yes, the interpreter spoke to the media yesterday and said she would most
certainly comply with a subpoena as she believes there is no precedent that
would not allow her to testify. However, several people seemed to feel this
would trigger a major fight and Trump could quite possibly invoke executive
privilege to stop her from testifying. It really makes no sense that Trump would want to speak to Putin
alone...outside of the idea that Trump wanted to communicate things he does
not want Americans to know to Vlad. The protocol that you have several
members of your staff and US representatives with you when you speak to a
hostile foreign leader is for the protection of both the president and the
country. It assures us that we have several people there that know exactly
what was said and why and prevents the hostile foreign leader from using
anything that was said against the president or our country. So, Trump wanting nobody else in the room and no American record of what
happened and what was said is not just suspicious it is downright
terrifying. This should never have been permitted to happen and no other US president
would have done this. What I hope is that Trump's desire for no record being made by the United
States was ignored and we also recorded the conversation. This is problematic because idiotic Republicans in Congress may accuse
people of spying on the president but the truth is it is vital to the
security of the country that we know what was said...particularly since
Trump is well known to leak classified information to our enemies betraying
the trust of our allies and of the American people. All Americans should be horrified that Trump wanted no record of the
conversation. This is a rather damning fact.
