That documentary just sticks with me. I would imagine he doesn't want pity, but my goodness, you just want to will his illness away.

When I was working we would get sent to these group homes with people with mental illness. Not that I'm bragging, but I became known as someone that could calm these people down and persuade them to do what needed to be done.

One of the sad parts is during one point the company in our area that ran so many of these homes was bought out by another company and that company started hiring the worst employees. Often times these employees would either agitate the resident more or try to deal with them as if they did not have a mental illness and were just misbehaving due to poor rearing.

It would really piss me off because sometimes others in dealing with those inflicted with a mental illness would treat them as if one would expect a paraplegic to get up and dance on command.
