While watching the Country Music series on PBS it has made me wonder about the sonic future of music.
To clarify, I look back in my lifetime about the sonic progression of music and wonder "where else can it go and how else can it progress?"
I can only imagine how even AM Radio sounded to those brought up on 78 records and the earliest of phongraphs.
Hell, as a child all the vehicles I was around had either no radio or AM radios and the BOOM - FM Radio stereo sound, along with the steady progression of recording mediums - LPs, 45s, 8 Track, cassette, compact disc and digital. So where does it go from here?
Not to sound too off the wall, but is the next big leap going to be a way to transmit sound directly in our brains to create a total body confluence? Is some sort of electrode going to be developed to directly receive a bluetooth like signal strait into the noggin?
But where can music go?
