I've seen I Spy, too and Cohen really surprised me and I think he would have been a tremendous Freddie Mercury.

As for Unbelievable, saw that, too, and really liked it.  Merritt Weaver (the more touchy feely detective) blew me away.  I thought how she showed just enough care and sympathy without being melodramatic was excellent.

As for my views, well, sexual assault cases are some of the most difficult things to investigate.  I think it is clear from this show that men understanding trauma in women is a problem. I don't think men automatically develope empathy enough when it comes to these cases and too often may grow suspicous of behavior that may be based in a victim's reaction to an assault rather than purposely deceptive.

And in some ways it's kind of disappointing to think an investigator forgets how easy it is to be suggestive to some people while also not internalizing how traumatizing it would be to be subjected to a sexual assault.

One time I worked on a horrible, horrible case where one aspect was so unbelieveable I was skeptical at first, but it turned out to be factual and then there were fabricated cases that had to be fully investigated, some of which ended up with arrests before it was realized the cases weren't factual.

A few months ago there was an excellent article in The Atlantic on serial sexual assaults and evidence collection kits.  It has a lot of good insights.  Here's the link...

Check out Criminal, especially the three UK episodes.  The last one of the UK part is really good.
